NSTDA Showcases Mangrove Restoration Innovations at National Mangrove Symposium 2026

Thailand’s National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) presented a series of scientific innovations and research projects aimed at restoring and conserving mangrove forests during the 16th National Mangrove Symposium 2026 in Chanthaburi Province. The event highlighted the importance of mangrove ecosystems in addressing climate change, coastal erosion, and biodiversity conservation under Thailand’s sustainable development agenda.

NSTDA’s research emphasized the use of biotechnology, genomic databases, and environmental monitoring to strengthen mangrove rehabilitation efforts. Scientists from the National Omics Center and BIOTEC have developed genetic databases of mangrove species in Thailand to support conservation planning, ecosystem restoration, and climate resilience. The agency also showcased innovations related to coastal protection, blue carbon management, and ecosystem restoration technologies that help reduce shoreline erosion and improve environmental sustainability.

The symposium brought together government agencies, researchers, environmental organizations, and local communities to exchange knowledge on mangrove conservation and climate adaptation. Thailand continues to promote mangrove restoration as part of its commitment toward achieving carbon neutrality and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. NSTDA stated that science, technology, and innovation will play a key role in protecting coastal ecosystems and enhancing sustainable resource management for future generations.
