Thailand Holds Amazing Thailand GI Tour & Trail Running 2026 in Phetchaburi

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) concluded the final stage of its Amazing Thailand GI Tour & Trail Running 2026 series in Phetchaburi Province, highlighting the province’s Geographical Indication (GI) product, Phetchaburi Golden Banana, to participants and tourists.

Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool presided over the opening and flag-off ceremony for the sports event at Ban Thung Kham School in Cha-am District. The event drew over 400 participants, including local officials, athletes, and tourists.

The TAT Governor stated that the project, held from June 20 to 21, 2026, aims to deliver innovative travel experiences blending physical fitness, community-based tourism, and distinct regional heritage. For the Phetchaburi edition, the focus was on the region's famous Geographical Indication (GI) certified banana, alongside a community marketplace with more than 20 local vendors and pottery-making workshops showcasing traditional craftsmanship.

The athletic competitions included a 20-kilometer Trail Challenge, an 11-kilometer Mini Trail, and a 4-kilometer Fun Run. Runners traversed natural landscapes and visited educational stations focused on GI products along the courses.

The strong public response across all five national race venues shows the successful integration of sports tourism with community lifeways, stimulating regional travel and generating sustainable revenue for local farmers and businesses.
