At the ASEAN-Russia Business Forum in Kazan, Russia on 17 June 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, invited Russian investors to use Thailand as a hub to access the 700-million-strong ASEAN market, highlighting Thailand's highest FDI growth in a decade via the "FastPass Initiative."
To mark the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations, the PM proposed three key pillars of cooperation:
● Connectivity — Thailand's infrastructure, logistics, and digital readiness as a strategic bridge into ASEAN
● Trade & Investment — Advancing the Thai-EAEU FTA, diversifying markets, and strengthening food and energy security
● People-to-People — Expanding tourism, medical services, the creative economy, and cultural exchange
With the 130th anniversary of Thailand-Russia diplomatic relations on the horizon in 2027, both nations are building toward a milestone year — and a partnership with far-reaching potential.
