Thai durians take Shanghai by storm! On May 15, 2025, Deputy Minister of Commerce Mr. Naphin Sriprapang visited China’s major fruit market, “Huizhan” and found that leading importers source up to 85% of ASEAN durians from Thailand. The ministry is upgrading trade through cutting-edge digital platforms!
This real-time success comes as Thailand prioritizes promoting fruit exports to China via digital channels, including live streams with popular KOL Quanquan. Showcasing fresh Monthong durians on Tmall, the campaign highlights premium quality—“smooth texture, sweet aroma, winning over Chinese consumers”—while emphasizing strict “4 No’s” quality controls (no underripe fruit, no worms, no counterfeit, no chemicals) to assure the Chinese market.
But that’s not all! Importers report soaring demand for Thai durians this year and are fast-tracking bottleneck solutions with expedited China-ASEAN transport and plans for direct flights, allowing buyers to select fruit straight from Thai orchards soon.
The ultimate breakthrough comes from tapping e-commerce giants JD.com, Tmall, and TikTok, opening direct sales channels from Thai farmers to millions of Chinese consumers every minute, elevating “Thai durian” as Asia’s soft power.
